Saddened by the miserable state of the Demarcian political scene, many of our countrymen and women felt a distinct feeling of unspeakable joy and inexpressible relief as they heard former President Jeskia, a true Demarcian stateswoman, announce her willingness to make a great return to the Presidential Palace, raising hopes for bringing an end to four long months of chaos, disorganisation and complete lack of direction in the government.
For anybody who has been following Demarcian politics, it is beyond obvious that if there is any politician in our country who can be truly described as trustworthy and competent, it is most certainly Jeskia. From her passionate speeches in the Parliament to her bold reforms in government, her courage to make her mark has been almost universally admired.
It is evident that Jeskia is the only politician who has made herself known for truly caring about improving government transparency, which was most clearly exemplified by the Transparency Act proposed by her in June 2021, which obliged Members of Parliament and members of the Cabinet to publish transcripts of their business activities involving foreign countries. The act also introduced a much needed ban on lobbying for said politicians within a month of leaving office, and perhaps most importantly limited the President of the Republic to serving two consecutive terms.
Her long list of achievements doesn't end with this, however; her presidential term saw the enactment of wonderful pieces of legislation such as the Building and Public Works Programme Act, which allows all Demarcians to offer to build for the government, or the Freedom of Information Act, which constituted yet another great improvement to government transparency.
Aside from her outstanding reforms, Jeskia was frequently the only person to have the courage to stand up to injustice when she witnessed it. This was exemplified by her willingness to investigate potential electoral fraud in the August 2021 election in spite of criticism from her Cabinet colleagues and from the opposition, but most importantly by her latest announcement of quitting the Social Democratic Party, which she once led, due to sexist conduct by its leadership, proving that her tremendous girl power must not be underestimated.
With that move, she also clearly positioned herself as an alternative to the three main political parties, which have evidently been unable to provide the Demarcian people with the strong and stable leadership they need. An independent President Jeskia would bring a breath of fresh air, while nonetheless guaranteeing the ability to work with different political groups thanks to having been in a record number of political parties.
Last but not least, with her tendency to change her political colours every once in a while, a President Jeskia would be certain to bring ideological diversity to the Demarcian government, allowing for the best compromise to be found between the solutions proposed by the different parties to the issues facing our nation.
With all this in mind, I can only encourage all citizens to choose wisely, reject the do-nothing politicians and elect Jeskia on the 18th of June 2022.
Nikita Brezhnev,
Demarcian Inquirer.
