Vincent_Wolff Elected President

Opposition leader Vincent_Wolff (SDP) has been elected President of Demarcia, defeating the incumbent President MikeBodwin (GP).

The opposition leader scored a blowout victory against her opponent, winning 7 out of 9 votes (78%) at a turnout of 8%, up just two percentage points from November's turnout. The opposition leader's victory is the largest victory against a major party candidate percentage-wise since November 2017.

The Social Democratic Party retained its majority in Parliament, winning 5 seats out of 6. MikeBodwin has retained his seat in Parliament.

President-elect Vincent_Wolff thanked the people for once again electing her and congratulated President MikeBodwin on his "hard-fought campaign and dedicated service to our country", and stated that "we will forever be grateful for his steadfast leadership" through the coronavirus pandemic.

The President-elect also celebrated the fact that she is the "first person elected president in Demarcian history publicly known to be a woman at the time of her election".

The President-elect immediately laid out the task awaiting her incoming administration, stating that "our task is now to rebuild our nation from the ravages of the pandemic".
