Minister of Environment Jeskia has challenged President Vincent_Wolff for the leadership of the Social Democratic Party.
Running under the slogan "For the People", the Minister promises to expand Demarcia with new residents, reform the education system, expand the Cabinet, return Demarcia to the United Nations, bring fresh faces and new ideas into Demarcia and introduce term limits for elected officials.
The President so far hasn't responded to the challenge from within her own party. Many party officials have for months been looking for the heir to political veteran Vincent_Wolff, who has been party leader for 9 months now, and some are expressing belief that Jeskia could be the one. However, some are also concerned about her experience, as well as her devotion to the causes that the SDP advocates and her leadership capabilities. Regardless, the idea of her becoming leader is now being given thorough consideration.
In the meantime, the Demarcian National Party is experiencing a revival. TylerHarris, reportedly the brother of former DNP leader GeorgeHarris, has officially declared his candidacy in the party's leadership election, to take place from 16-17 April. Not much is known about where the DNP leadership hopeful stands on the issues so far; these details are expected to be cleared up within the next few weeks.
In the meantime, the Green Party's leader, former President MikeBodwin confirmed he is considering a presidential run, but a decision has not yet been made. MikeBodwin ran for President in the last three elections; the first time losing as the DNP's candidate, the second time winning as the Green Party's candidate, and the third time losing in a landslide running for re-election.
Both the Social Democratic Party and the Demarcian National Party are going through major changes that will set the course of their future and the future of the country. The Green Party, in the meantime, has to make maneuvers of its own in order to secure its position going forward.
