Another chaotic Parliament meeting - this one more combative and insulting than any before in the country's history.
The Demarcian National Party's leader, Vincent_Wolff, blasted the Government over the crisis in Novaland, going as far as accusing the Government of abetting genocide and tolerating, and even supporting, war in Novaland. In particular, in a question to Speaker of the Parliament Penstubal, she blasted the Social Democratic Party's doing "unsocialistic" things in Novaland with supposedly pro-war actions and tried to draw a contrast between the values the SDP preaches and what the SDP actually does.
"You have truly showed a very, very dark side of those two parties, where they have lied to Demarcia and her citizens" the opposition leader said in a fierce speech, "How can you tell that you're a socialist, if you have those acts in minds...?" She also contrasted the Green Party's environmentalist values with "actions of war" that cause "so much death to a defenseless country".
Gasps and objections poured in from the government side of the aisle. Speaker of the Parliament Penstubal responded to Vincent_Wolff's comments.
"I would like to flat out deny the accusations that the leader of the opposition has made" he said, "First of all, this is a matter that has been mostly handled by the minister of interior and defence, MikeBodwin. (...) Secondly, however, we have a diversity of opinions in our government. MikeBodwin has been more in favour of direct action against terror groups in Novaland, our side, the Social Democrats, have been more restrained."
Following those remarks, an upset Penstubal attacked Vincent_Wolff for accusing the government of essentially tolerating genocide, calling it an "absolutely wrong and shameful accusation to make" and stating that, to the contrary, the Demarcian government has the goal of "being a peacekeeping force everywhere in the world, wherever it is necessary".
Jeskia, the Second Vice President and Minister of Education and Culture, too blasted the leader of the opposition, questioning why she is only now bringing up Novaland a mere week before the general election. A heated exchange then occurred between the two, with Vincent_Wolff accusing her of being completely silent on the Novaland issue and Jeskia replying that it was not her jurisdiction. Jeskia also called for an ethics investigation into hircine, the former First Vice President, who is no longer a citizen of the country, for his role in the Novaland situation.
President GeorgeChambers attacked Vincent_Wolff and said that the Government of Demarcia does not recognise Novaland to begin with and that "it is a hard-rock job for me to use Demarcian resources on a state I don't know if we really recognize". Vincent_Wolff hit back at the President and called it "a very bad case" that "certain members of the SDP are misinformed on situations like these".
MikeBodwin, the First Vice President and Minister of Interior and Defence, having arrived late to the Parliament meeting, gave a brief statement explaining his actions with regards to the Novaland crisis and revealing that the Government also discussed an invasion of Novaland but decided against it.
The Parliament meeting was extremely heated. The situation with Novaland has escalated into a full blown crisis inside the SDP-GP coalition government. Following the meeting, Vincent_Wolff issued a call for the investigation of the government "for potentially lying about the annexation" of Novaland. It is unclear what she means by "annexation".
