Vercetti Elected SDP Leader, Not Seeking Presidency

Vercetti has been elected Leader of the Social Democratic Party, defeating MikeHawk with 3 votes to 1.
In his speech, Vercetti said he would use "this opportunity now to restructure our once glorious party" and expressing openness towards seeking a "good leader in the coming times that won't let our party fall into nothing". Some have interpreted this as Vercetti defining himself as a sort-of temporary leader who's here to steady the ship before allowing a new generation to take the helm some day.
Vercetti has also announced he would not be running for President, confirming Penstubal's announcement weeks earlier that, in the event of Vercetti's election as Leader, the SDP would not be putting forward their leader as the party's presidential candidate.
Vercetti, formerly known as GeorgeChambers, previously served as President of Demarcia from May to November 2021. His first election as Leader of the SDP took place on 23 April 2021 - exactly two years before today.
