Without offering further details, a source from one of the officials involved in negotiations between the Social Democratic Party and the Green Party to renew their coalition agreement alleged that tensions have been flaring between the two sides in the negotiations, with one side allegedly making 'incredible demands, and aggressively so'.
It is unclear what these demands are, nor who the official alleging this is. What is certain, however, is that the renewal of the coalition between the SDP and the Greens is not a done deal.
President-elect Brandin is reported to have met Prime Minister MikeBodwin on the issue of renewing the coalition. Both party leaders have agreed that the coalition would be renewed, but details have not yet been fully drawn.
"I believe that the Social Democrats will ultimately give in to the Greens, give them whatever they want, just so that they can remain in power and be able to lead in a stable manner for the next three months" says Gregory Servopoulos, a political expert and analyst.
"The Social Democrats know what's at stake. They know how hard they've been wounded in the last election. Trust me, they will cave in to whatever the Greens demand - they have such extraordinary bargaining power now, and MikeBodwin knows it and he doesn't want to lose it."
If the SDP fails to form a coalition with the Green Party, there is a chance that they could turn towards the Demarcian National Party to form a coalition government with them instead. This would, however, be a coalition of two wildly different parties, and would require both parties shifting radically closer to each other - likely alienating both their bases.
