The Social Democratic Party has won a majority in Parliament, winning 3 out of 5 seats (while the Demarcian National Party acquired 1 and Green Party acquired 1).
However, the presidential election ended in a tie that caught many, seemingly both the SDP and the DNP, by surprise. GeorgeChambers, the incumbent President and the SDP's candidate, and Vincent_Wolff are to go head to head tomorrow in an election that could determine the entire future of Demarcia given the radical policy differences between the two parties.
The Demarcian Inquirer asked President GeorgeChambers to comment on the election results. The President replied that "nobody expected that, seriously, even me!", saying that he expected a "landslide" or "easy winning, or easy losing" rather than an outright tie. He has also described himself as "very, very worried", stating that the SDP have "built (...) this country" and that "hardwork and companionship, all of those would be vanished into thin air" in case the DNP's candidate wins.
The opposition candidate, Vincent_Wolff, meanwhile, was exuberant. She stated that the election results were a "surprise to everyone (...) a welcomed surprise", stating that the Demarcian people are yearning for a party that will "represent the land as it should be". She further added that she "believes in a victory and hopes for it", expressing her hope that "Demarcia can break free from these socialist chains" that have "withheld the land from more positive outcomes too long".
There has never been quite a significant election in the history of Demarcia when it comes to the radically different visions the two parties have for the country. The citizens have to choose carefully - as depending on how they choose, Demarcia could change unlike ever before in its history.
