President JeskiaWeathers has proposed a snap election scheduled for 11 February amid intense political instability in the country over the past few weeks.

The move comes as Penstubal (SDP) has thrown his hat in the ring and is to face off Vincent_Wolff (SDP) for the position of Speaker of the Parliament.

Both the speakership and snap election votes, as well as a vote on impeaching President Jeskia, are set to take place on Sunday, 22 January.

Prior to the announcement of the news, Penstubal commented on the situation in the country, stating that "the government's existence is untenable" and that it was "on the brink of collapse". In his comments on the situation he stated that talks were ongoing within the governing party and that an important motion could be considered at the next session of Parliament.

Sources tell the Inquirer that MikeBodwin (CUP) was perplexed upon receiving the news.
