Penstubal Excoriates SDP As He Prepares "Major Announcement"

Penstubal has excoriated the very party he is secretary of, attacking the Social Democratic Party for "not doing anything right now to win back power". He has also attacked Brandin personally while stating that the party "urgently needs new leadership".

The attacks against the SDP were preceded by the party's secretary denouncing MikeBodwin as a "liar", accusing him of failing to deliver a by-election promise that SuperMiron subsequently revealed to have, at long last, been fulfilled. The SDP secretary said that the CUP "is the same old DNP that we have always known", adding that despite its "unifying" name-change, "the party has revealed itself to be seeking to accumulate power in its own hands, at the behest of the majority of the population".

The day after his attacks against both his own party and the CUP, Penstubal said that he would be making a "major announcement" later that evening, stating that it will "cause a massive earthquake on the Demarcian political scene". He said that the day would go down in history as "the beginning of the end of the DNP-lite regime" and "merely the first in a series of massive blows".

Penstubal, however, has offered no hint as to what the announcement could be about.

Immediately, speculation has arisen on whether he has planned on following through with statement that the SDP "urgently needs new leadership". Some believe that Penstubal is considering throwing his hat in the ring and challenging Brandin for the party leadership - a prospect some in the CUP might or might not be worried about.

Others have speculated that Penstubal finally intends to launch the "unprecedented campaign to oust the DNP-lite" he had promised in his rant against MikeBodwin, whom he labelled "MikeStalin". It is unclear what that campaign would entail, or, more specifically, how it would be different from any previous SDP campaigns.

Only time will tell what ideas the SDP has in their sleeve in order to win back power.
