The Demarcian National Museum has officially been opened by President SuperMiron on his last full day in office.
In his speech opening the National Museum, the President said that the day marked "a significant moment in the history of our beloved Demarcia" and said that the "achievement is the culmination of dedication, vision and hard work", expressing his deep gratitude to "all those who made this dream a reality".
More specifically, he thanked Speaker Penstubal, the Minister of Education and Culture, "whose unwavering support and expertise has been invaluable in the establishment of the Museum".
He also thanked former prime minister Examed. "Despite some of his subsequent actions that weren't as great, it was under his leadership that the groundwork for the museum was laid," the President said. "While the establishment of a national museum has been promised several times in the past, he was the first politician to take concrete steps towards this momentous occasion."
In addition to the Museum, the President touted the other achievements of his presidency, celebrating the doubling of the number of residents, the welcoming of several new citizens including new politicians, and the completion of the report of the Presidential Commission on the Establishment of a Judiciary.
At the end of his speech, the President said that he was "filled with hope and optimism for the future under the leadership of President-elect MarcoDeVore, who will be inaugurated tomorrow".
"I trust that he will continue to build upon our achievements and lead Demarcia to even greater heights," he added, then thanked everyone for their "unwavering support and dedication to our nation", calling for celebrating the "milestone" and continuing to "strive for a brighter future for all Demarcians".
Prior to President SuperMiron's speech, Penstubal announced the appointment of SuperMiron as acting Director of the National Museum and called its opening a "historic achievement" and that citizens, residents and foreign visitors will be able to use it to "acquaint themselves with their [sic] country and so they can learn what it means to be a Demarcian, and why they should be proud of their [sic] country."
Currently, the museum houses ten artifacts, a list of which can be found here, on the Demarcian Gazette. Pictures from the opening and from the inside of the museum can be found below.
