President SuperMiron has chaired the first-ever National Development Council meeting open to the public, at which members of the Government and ordinary people discussed ways to improve Demarcia and ways to overcome the activity crisis plaguing the country for ages.
In addition to the President, the meeting was attended by MikeBodwin, the Speaker of the Parliament, and Penstubal, the Deputy Prime Minister . Also in attendance were angelx0, the newly-appointed Principal of the King Demarcus Primary School, DenikaCastillo, the school's Vice Principal, as well as theloveclub. The President promised to reward attendees who made significant contributions to the discussion with a place on the Council.
During the meeting, President SuperMiron announced the "long overdue" renovation of King Demarcus Primary School, nearing completion thanks to the work of Principal angelx0. The President thanked her "dedication to improving the quality of the country's only primary school". He also announced a number of new projects were coming up, though he did not elaborate which, so as to avoid making promises he wasn't sure he could keep.
Penstubal heaped praise on angelx0 over the King Demarcus Primary School renovation and expressed his confidence that the SuperMiron presidency will lead to a rejuvenation of Demarcia.
Participants in the meeting also agreed that "the more people are present in a room, the less likely the country is to get citizens". Penstubal suggested a focus on small-scale events in which the purpose would be to build a connection with people and unite around a common topic, citing previous successful efforts by the SDP government in spring 2020 to get new citizens like Vincent_Wolff, GeorgeChambers (now Vercetti) and MikeBodwin at the time.
It remains to be seen whether SuperMiron - now the 1st, 3rd and 18th President of Demarcia - will be successful at rejuvenating the country, as Penstubal said. One thing is for certain - the events of today are a major step in that direction.
