President MikeBodwin has resigned as Leader of the Civic Unity Party. A party leadership election will be taking place on 7 October.

MikeBodwin said he would no longer "be going for any position of major power" and endorsed madoff as his successor to the party leadership. He stated that madoff has "more than prove[n] himself capable and earned the right to take the place. I believe he is not the same person who advised former president Jeskia."

Asked by Andrew Bagpipe of the Femarcian Inquisition "how many active politicians there are in the party, other than himself", MikeBodwin says "only one", despite touting the CUP as a party "more stable than ever".

At the Parliament session that took place prior to the President's press conference, Penstubal, the Secretary of the Social Democratic Party, congratulated him for a successful time in office.

"September was a month of revival for our country. From a country of complete inactivity, a country that seemed almost like a barren wasteland under the presidencies of MikeHawk and Jake, Demarcia is alive and kicking again," said Penstubal. "It is in no small part thanks to the efforts of [MikeBodwin]'s and madoff's administration. And for this reason, I reach out my hand to you in congratulations as a representative of the Social Democratic Party".

The day before, Penstubal announced that "all-encompassing" and "firmly democratic" discussions were taking place in the SDP regarding rebranding the party as well as its leadership. Sea changes are taking place in Demarcian politics, within both political parties.
