MikeBodwin Inaugurated, DNP-Greens Form Civic Unity Party

MikeBodwin has been inaugurated as president of Demarcia for a historic second term as President.

In his inaugural address, the President promised to instigate change for the country and bring in a new era of stability, reaching out to the Social Democratic Party and expressing understanding for the difficult situation they have found themselves in. The President also expressed hope for long-lasting changes in the country.

The President is the leader of the new Civic Unity Party (CUP), a merger of the Demarcian National Party and the Green Party. The Civic Unity Party holds all 3 seats in Parliament owing to the failure of the SDP to submit its electoral list in the September parliamentary election.

The SDP quickly attacked the new party, referring to them under several different nicknames, including "Chameleon Party".

"The people of Demarcia know that the so-called Civic Unity Party is the same old conniving DNP", party secretary Penstubal said, "It's the same old DNP, but with an ugly green shade. A better name for the CUP would be the 'Carbon DNP', and that's what we will refer to it as."

"The party's new colour is green chunder. It represents quite accurately how the DNP has abandoned any veneer of caring about the national interest, it depicts vividly how the new DNP will turn Demarcia to goo. Meanwhile, the SDP stands ready to defend its vision of a red Demarcia, progressive, inclusive, social and fair for all people, putting the national interest first".

Penstubal also expressed his interest in a rebrand of his own party, stating that massive changes that have been in the works are finally nearing completion.
