MarcoDeVore has pulled off a stunning victory and defeated nilah., his own party's nominee, to become President of Demarcia. MarcoDeVore, a member of the Social Democratic Party running as an independent, won despite lacking his party's official support and despite a scandal involving generating interview answers using ChatGPT.
"Whether you love me or hate me, I [now] rule you," the President-elect said. "I want to make Demarcia great again, and I will do that. I ask now for your support, and maybe in the end you will like me. If not, then I simply do not care, this is a free country. I will be here whenever I am needed."
The President-elect also thanked MikeBodwin, saying "he helped me with this; I dedicate my victory to the military of Demarcia. Let us rule over them all!"
nilah. conceded defeat, congratulating MarcoDeVore on winning the presidency, calling it a "close race for both of us". She expressed she was "glad to see another party member at the forefront" and that she would "ensure he receives the support he needs in the future to execute an effective presidency". She said she intends to continue serving as the SDP's leader.
Independent candidate SerenaColeman failed to win a single vote in the election, including her own. Following the announcement of the results, she threw what was described as a "temper tantrum", issuing expletive-laden statements insulting Demarcia, wishing the people rot in hell and announcing she was quitting the country.
Penstubal, the Secretary of the Social Democratic Party, who backed the party's unsuccessful candidate in the election, congratulated the President-elect on his victory, said that "the will of the people must be respected" and wished him luck.
"On behalf of the SDP, I would like to extend my hand to him tonight in the hopes of uniting our party and forming what should, in my opinion, be a one-party SDP government," Penstubal said. "If he does not wish to do so, I respect his decision, and the SDP must stand ready to make a formidable opposition."
The election has been described by some, including Examed, the country's former Prime Minister, as a repudiation of Penstubal and the SDP, despite the fact that both the presidency and Parliament have been won by the SDP. What is certain, however, is that the election is an unusual and unprecedented repudiation of a political party's nominee in favor of another politician from that party.
