MikeBodwin, the Captain of Demarcia's naval forces, has threatened to essentially commit a military coup if hircine and the Green Party lose the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

The threat the Captain, a former president, issued, among other things, includes an announcement that the military will disobey the orders of any incoming administration following the election unless that administration is of the Green Party. He has threatened to take away the military from the government's control - which would be illegal - and is having the military take sides in the election campaign, directly backing the Green Party's candidate hircine; something that is unethical for the military to do given that their role is serving the nation and the people.

Outrage has ensued from both the Social Democratic and the Demarcian National parties as a result of the threats from the Captain. Government officials have also reacted and have condemned the threats coming from Captain MikeBodwin, labeling them "unpatriotic" and "bordering on sedition".

Some are now calling for the resignation of Captain MikeBodwin.

"These threats he has issued are completely unacceptable", says an anonymous government source, "We should thoroughly consider relieving him of his duties, or otherwise ask him to resign from his position. This behavior is wholly unacceptable from a high-ranking official in the military"

This scandal comes just one full day before the official opening of the polls in Demarcia's elections. It remains to be seen whether this scandal, as well as the other major scandals that occurred over the course of the campaign, such as the sexism and racism scandal, will hurt hircine and the Green Party's campaign.

The Demarcian National Party leader and presidential contender TylerHarris has offered an official response to the Demarcian Inquirer on MikeBodwin's comments.

"I think Mike is a great leader, a great Captain of our forces. However, this is not the way to go" he said, "No matter who wins the election, our country has to remain united at all costs. We value our navy very much and I have nothing but respect for Mike, however I would suggest he takes back his statement to show the real leader we all know that he is."

Asked what action he would take if the Captain refuses to retract his statements, the DNP leader said that "it is a conversation Mike and I will have privately" and that he would "try to work out the best possible solution to keep our country united and together".
