The Social Democratic Party has been consumed by infighting following the party's unexpected failure to submit its parliamentary list. This infighting has mostly taken place between Dodoville's mayor Jeskia and deputy mayor Brandin, two party heavyweights, who are clashing over each other's legacies.
Jeskia has been reacting angrily to Brandin's mayoral aspirations, and has attacked him for not focusing on the presidential race instead. Brandin's presidential bid comes shortly after he said he would be focusing on local politics instead, leading to immense public confusion.
Jeskia and Brandin fought angrily on 15 September, with Brandin claiming to have a poll showing extraordinarily low support for Jeskia. "Like I said Brandin boo i'm the mayor don't make me un-deputy you", the woman frequently referred to under the monicker Karen lashed out.
Brandin named his appointment as a highlight of Jeskia's term as mayor. She then proceeded to list the "highlights of Brandin's political career" - losing the election to Vincent_Wolff of all people and losing the parliamentary election, subsequently threatening to go on listing them.
Brandin quipped how "that's two highlights more than yours", with Jeskia apparently missing the sarcasm.
Brandin, finally, told Jeskia to "focus on [her] mayorship so [he] can focus on the country". Jeskia warned Brandin not to challenge her for her seat.
Tensions are rising in the Social Democratic Party and their ramifications are unclear as of yet. One thing is clear though - a divided SDP is not a force that can face a potentially resolute, united DNP. The SDP must get its house in order if it wants to win an election again some day.
