GeorgeChambers has officially been sworn in as President of the Republic of Demarcia.
In his inaugural address, the President touted the Social Democratic-Green coalition and its plans for the future of Demarcia, outlined his agenda for the next three months and sent a message of unity and cooperation, promising a "very progressive" government and stating that progress is not possible without working together.
Following the inauguration, a Parliament session took place, with very low attendance - only President GeorgeChambers and Speaker of the Parliament Penstubal cared to attend. During the Parliament session, the re-elected Speaker, while hoping for a successful and productive coalition government over the next few months, sent a message that such low attendance in Parliament would no longer be tolerated.
"We have to reform the way Parliament works," said the Speaker, "As currently, with such low attendance, it can not function, and for this reason we will introduce disciplinary measures."
It is unknown as of yet what disciplinary measures the Speaker intends to enact, but sources tell the Demarcian Inquirer that the Speaker finds this an urgent issue if the government wants to get its agenda through.
