Minister of Justice and Interior GeorgeChambers has announced that the government will be proceeding with an official inquiry into the Novaland situation that occurred in summer 2021 and that produced a massive political divide in the country.
The minister has not formally outlined his plans or his timetable for when the inquiry will take place, in what form and who will be the chairman of this inquiry. Any official inquiry would also require the Prime Minister MikeBodwin's consent, and at the moment it is unclear whether GeorgeChambers has it.
This announcement comes several weeks after a long and contentious Parliament meeting, at which the Leader of the Opposition Vincent_Wolff blasted the governing coalition over its handling of the Novaland crisis. The Novaland crisis took place over former President GeorgeChambers's first government, which, like the present administration, was a coalition between the Social Democratic Party and the Green Party.
Reportedly, the government was, behind closed doors and unbeknownst to the public and even certain members of the government, funneling support towards terrorist groups in Novaland, a 'mysterious' country apparently founded by Frank-Underwood, a senator and former vice president of Demarcia. The Leader of the Opposition, in a Parliament meeting months ago, has alleged that the support was used in a genocide in the apparently volatile country, an accusation the government strongly denied and then-President GeorgeChambers expressed no awareness of.
The individual of crucial interest in this investigation is hircine, the former Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, who appears to have been the most entangled in this situation and has faced attacks from all three political party leaders ever since he stepped down from all his duties in July 2021. However, hircine is no longer a citizen of Demarcia and the Government has no means of contacting him for a potential investigation.
Whether or not the then-governing coalition government committed massive wrongdoings in relation to Novaland, especially on such a massive scale as abetting genocide, one thing remains for certain; something odd has indeed happened and it is in the public's interest for what exactly happened to be revealed, and for any bad actors to face the consequences for their actions. That is why an official inquiry into this saga might get to the bottom of what really happened and put an end to questions surrounding the whole issue.
