The election campaign season draws to a close as voters about to make their decision in Demarcia's presidential and parliamentary elections. Polls will open at 18:30 UTC on Friday, 5 February, and will close 24 hours later on Saturday, 6 February, after which the results of the elections will be announced.

The presidential candidates are MikeBodwin, the incumbent President seeking a second consecutive term in office, who unexpectedly returned onto the top of the Green Party leadership after resigning in favour of DanielleOshana who went missing without a trace but had since belatedly returned, and Vincent_Wolff, the leader of the opposition and former President, who is seeking a second non-consecutive term in office.

Vincent_Wolff's camp expresses confidence that they will win this election and are citing the "relative unpopularity" of the current President. In the meantime, MikeBodwin isn't doing much campaigning at all, partially because it might be too late to change anything given how late he had returned to the race. However, supporters of MikeBodwin are celebrating the way he's handled the coronavirus pandemic, and believe that the President, if given another term in office, will lead the nation towards full recovery and ensure the vaccination of the populace.

"At this point, we're not sure if there is a path to victory for the President (MikeBodwin)", says Jason Woods, a political analyst for the Demarcian Inquirer, "Frankly, he has to rely on the voters recognising how well he's handled the pandemic and deciding to vote for him because of that. He might also be hoping that the voters are seeing the progress that he's made when it comes to things like the military, as he's greatly improved the military, built new bases and new military equipment, and so on"

Reports from inside the Social Democratic Party say that the party is planning on holding a minor celebration at the party's Red Club. The party plans to immediately get to work on dealing with the urgent task before them, which is stamping out the remainder of the coronavirus pandemic in Demarcia, as well as purchasing and distributing vaccines across the populace, something which the current Government has not yet administered.
