Chop, the Leader of the Civic Unity Party, has won the Presidency of Demarcia, defeating JeskiaWeathers with 3 votes to 2.

Neither his party nor his rival Social Democratic Party managed to win a parliamentary majority, though the CUP would have had they fielded more than just one candidate.

Following her defeat, JeskiaWeathers, the SDP leader, congratulated Chop on his victory. She also spoke of the need for her party to gain new members, with a particular emphasis on recruiting new female politicians.

Speaking to the inquirer, Penstubal congratulated Chop on his presidential election victory, and "thanked the CUP for being incompetent once again and denying itself a majority in Parliament". Still, Penstubal did not deny that this election was a failure for the SDP. He said that the SDP must go through major reforms in order to stay competitive going into 2024.

Asked what the priorities of the SDP would be in the upcoming term, Penstubal says he doesn't know for certain and that things have to be worked out between the members of the SDP, but that the party wants to find agreement with the CUP wherever it can, while blocking any "bad ideas" whenever it can. Penstubal expresses optimism that the two parties can clench historic agreements in the economic and business-related domains.

Penstubal repeated his fears about President-elect Chop's inactivity. "Even in the last few days, he hasn't been as active as he should have been. I'm quite worried, and I hope this won't be a repeat of MikeHawk's or Jake's presidency."
