Sources tell the Demarcian Inquirer that Brandin, the former Minister - Secretary of the Cabinet, is considering a challenge to President Jeskia's leadership of the Social Democratic Party.

This report comes as the Coalition is once again in turmoil over the unresolved Novaland situation, lingering tensions between the two parties and dissatisfaction with the governance of President Jeskia.

Government sources have described the President as being an 'unsteady leader' and a 'lame duck' who has done very little during her time in office. Some officials have commented that, even amidst the inactivity plaguing the country as a whole, she should have initiated things more often in order for activity to occur.

Jeskia has not yet announced whether she intends to seek re-election as the President of Demarcia. Sources close to her expect her to and believe she has a record to run on that includes the Building and Public Works Programme Act and the Freedom of Information Act.

Brandin, meanwhile, is a politician who has become increasingly notable in the past few months and a prominent name in Demarcian politics. He has already previously been touted as a successor to Jeskia - now, however, it appears that, if Jeskia wishes to remain on top of the leadership of her party, him succeeding her might come sooner than she might have expected.
